Upon joining the Young Marine Program each recruit will attend a weekend camp-out where they will be taught the basics of the program. They will learn basic commands, facing movements, grooming standards, and most importantly how to work together as a team. Each recruit will be given a training manual that they will need to study, and they will take a practice PFT (Physical Fitness Test) to give them an idea of what they will need to work on over the next thirteen weekly meetings of recruit training or "boot camp".
To graduate and become a Young Marine each recruit will need to attend all meetings and fundraisers, attend the recruit campout, pass a verbal exam with a 70% or better and obtain a score of 200 or better on their PFT.
Most of our recruits find the training challenging and experience the proud sense of accomplishment on graduation day.
